City and County of Peterborough elementary schools are encouraged to take part in this fun and proactive Earth Week Challenge. Picking up garbage has become a traditional activity for students during Earth Week. The Quest for Less Earth Week Challenge encourages parents, teachers and students to take it a step further -- to reduce school yard waste at one of its main sources. The challenge requires the school community to re-think the waste being generated from snacks and lunches by planning and bringing litterless lunches for the entire Earth Week. Schools receive an information package, participation tabulation sheets and support materials at no cost. Fabulous prizes are offered for the class and school with the highest participation rates in the area. This event runs throughout Earth Week. For more information, contact: Paula Anderson at (705) 745-3238 or by email: wastefree@greenup.on.ca. |
